NORTHCOTE BOROUGH COUNCIL CENTENARY 1908-2008

Sunday Afternoon at Northcote Library with David Verran

‘Northcote and the North Shore to 1959’

The Northcote Borough Council logo depicts the buildings of the city (at the top) divided by the line
  of the Harbour Bridge (the line) from the sails that surround Northcote.

Come along and hear David Verran speak about the history of the North Shore, and Northcote in particular, up to May 1959 and the opening of the Harbour Bridge. David has researched the history of the North Shore over many years which will ensure that this will be an interesting and informative presentation.

Questions will be welcome at the conclusion of the presentation.

David is currently President of the North Shore Historical Society and Local History Librarian at Auckland City Libraries.

Sunday Afternoon at Northcote Library with Peter McArthur

Join us to hear Peter McArthur talk about his past and experiences with Northcote Borough Council. Peter has a reputation as a gifted raconteur, is well known for his sense of humour, and has a long working history with the Council. This promises to be a fun afternoon of memories and recollections…

Peter McArthur joined Northcote Borough Council as an Assistant Town Clerk in 1971 and spent 18 years with the borough until amalgamation. His last three years were as Borough Manager. He is currently employed by North Shore City Council as City Secretary.

Questions will be welcome at the conclusion of the presentation.
